Birthdays are blessings

Tomorrow is my birthday—and not just any birthday. I’m stepping into a new decade of life. Milestones like this invite reflection. They help me pause, look back with gratitude, and look ahead with faith.

As I do, I’m drawn to the promises of Psalm 92:12–15 (NKJV):

“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,

He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Those who are planted in the house of the Lord

Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

They shall still bear fruit in old age;

They shall be fresh and flourishing,

To declare that the Lord is upright;

He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”

I receive these words with a full heart.

I take them as promises I can carry into the coming years—ones I want to hold onto with thanksgiving and eager anticipation. Scripture tells me I can flourish. I can still grow. I can bear fruit. I can be fresh and full of life.

These words speak life and truth into this new season.

To flourish like a palm tree means to stand strong and upright—even when the winds blow. Palms withstand storms because their roots grow deep and their trunks stay flexible. That’s the kind of life I want: resilient, grounded in the Word of God, and able to endure.

To bear fruit—not once, not just in younger years, but still—is a promise I’m holding close. Fruitfulness doesn’t fade with age. God’s Word says I will still bear fruit. Abundantly. Purposefully. Consistently. He is the one who makes my life fruitful.

To grow like the cedars of Lebanon speaks to strength, stability, and beauty that matures over time. Cedars are evergreen, durable, and deeply rooted. The older they grow, the stronger they become. That picture speaks dignity and vitality into this next chapter.

I don’t flourish because of effort or striving. I flourish because I am planted in Him. He has already prepared the path. My part is to remain surrendered.

So yes, birthdays are blessings. Every year is a testimony. Every season is a reminder. And each new decade is another opportunity to declare:
The Lord is my rock. There is no unrighteousness in Him.
