Joy

Christmas reminds us that Jesus did not come accidentally. He came with purpose.

“For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NIV)

Jesus came because of love. Love that pursues. Love that rescues. Love that restores what was broken.

And He came with clarity.

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 (NIV)

God’s purpose has always been relationship—humanity living fully in His presence, reflecting His glory, stewarding His creation.

“So God created mankind in his own image,  in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.’” Genesis 1:26 (NIV)

This plan was not reactive or temporary.

“According to His eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Ephesians 3:11 (NIV)

Christmas is not a detour in God’s story. It is the fulfillment of His eternal purpose. Jesus willingly stepped into humility for the sake of redemption.

“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” Philippians 2:5–7 (NIV)

He laid aside glory to serve. He took on flesh to redeem. He obeyed fully—even to death on a cross.

After Christ’s work was finished, God did not leave us to walk alone.

The Holy Spirit now lives within us—to guide, teach, strengthen, comfort, and remind us of truth. The Spirit aligns our hearts with God’s purposes and anchors us.

And here is the thought I keep returning to: the world spins at top speed—but my heart can rest. King Jesus is sovereign over all things in my life.

This brings to mind the familiar words of an old hymn:

The Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare Him room…

Not just at Christmas. Not just in celebration. But in the ordinary days that follow.

Let my whole heart—my mind, my spirit, my plans—prepare Him room.

He rules my life with truth and grace. I glory in His righteousness. I am surrounded by the wonders of His love.

Jesus has come.

So I choose to rejoice. I choose to praise His name. I choose to live with gladness—not because everything is settled, but because He is King.

Joy to my life—Jesus reigns.

Rejoice and praise His name.
