Future
There is something about the future that constantly pulls at the human heart. Sometimes thinking about the future feels exciting. Sometimes intimidating. We make plans, set goals, and try to prepare for what is ahead, but no amount of preparation can fully guarantee what tomorrow will hold.
Yet for the believer, the future is never without hope.
The favor of the Lord goes before us. This is the loyal love of God extended toward His people in practical, powerful, deeply personal ways.
“It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them.” Psalm 44:3 (NIV)
Israel’s victories came because God was with them, and His favor rested over them. The same is true for us.
No matter how hard we try, we can’t secure our future through our own ability. Ultimately, our hope has never rested in our own strength. It rests in the faithful love of God.
Jesus remains the only thing that truly preserves and protects our souls. At the end of the day, nothing else matters more than giving people Jesus.
Because He is the only lasting source of peace, hope, salvation, and life. Everything else fades. Everything else eventually disappoints.
The greatest thing we can carry into the future is not confidence in ourselves, but confidence in Him.
No matter what tomorrow holds, the loyal love of God still reaches toward His people. His favor still surrounds those who trust Him. And His presence still goes before us.
